Various Tips in Raising Broiler Chickens
| By Pinoy Farmer | February 5, 2008 |

Simpler Way to Find Out Feed Deficiency
Experts suggested an easy way of finding out whether the chickens are being fed correctly. This is by looking at the floor of the pen to find out whether there are too many or too little feathers scattered around, or looking at the chickens to see whether some of them are already bald due to pecking by the other chickens. The underlying principle is, that the chickens will eat their feathers to get the protein they need. The chickens feathers and their fellow chickens skins are good sources of protein.
Tips showing when chickens are supplied with more protein are: when the chickens are bald, when chickens are suffering from wounds inflicted by other chickens that peck on them and when less feathers are scattered around. These techniques could easily be adapted to large scale commercial operations where collection of accurate weight and conversion data would not be possible.

Give Broilers Banana Leaf Meal
According to a study conducted at Southern Mindanao Agricultural Research (Kabacan, North Cotabato) broilers fed with a ration containing five percent banana leaf meal (BLM) registered the highest average weight gain of 1.462 kilos, followed by those given a ration with 10 percent BLM at 1.373 kilos. On the other hand, those given commercial starter mash ration gained an average of 1.289 kilos.
Herbal Plants for Chicken Worms
Chickens maybe infested with roundworms which are indicated by slow growing process. Even the layers can also be infested by roundworms. It was found by researchers that papaya sap can be given as a drink but it was difficult for poultry raisers to give each chicken when there are so many. Researchers from UPLB tried using finely chopped papaya leaves combined with the feeds for 3 days. Results showed that the worm infestation were controlled and destroyed. Also, powdered tobacco leaves which were dried under the sun may also be used. Powdered tobacco leaves (2 parts) mixed with 12 parts feed mash and sodium sulfate is a salt solution for discharging chicken roundworms when given for 3 days.

what is the feed consumption of every chickens? how many kilogram of feeds are consumed in every broiler?
March 4th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Hello andre, consumption varies by feeds company. I suggest you go to your local feeds store and ask for a broiler feeding guide. They usually have leaflets and reading materials that are sponsored by the feeds companies.

Hi, I’m just asking what are the procedures in raising the “bantres”. I will be glad to know what feed best for what month and how many times in a day the chicken will be given.
April 29th, 2008 at 2:31 am
dindo, bantres or broiler chickens are raised for their meat so the goal is to get the target weight at the least possible time. these chickens are fed on an ad libitum basis or unlimited feeding. when given unlimited feeding, the bantres can eat whenever it likes thus being able to achieve its maximum growth. from a feeding guide from a local feeds company in my place, it shows:
AGE —– FEED TYPE
———————————-
1-7 days —– Chick Booster Mash
8-20 days —– Broiler Starter Mash
21-28 days —– Broiler Starter Crumble
29-market —– Broiler Finisher Crumble/Pellet
Take note that for the first 20 days of the broiler, it will be fed on mash so as to improve digestion for the chicks.
Please refer to your feeds supplier for the right amount of feeds to give to the chickens.

hello, i’m planning to start raising broiler chickens at our provincial place somewhere in bukidnon. I’m thinking of constructing an experimental cage for my trial and error start-up. In this regard, it would be beneficial on my part if you can guide me as to the proper dimension of the cage, exact wattage of the bulbs to be used/appropriate temperature to maintain and, if possible, including data and projection of return of investment. Thanks and best regards.

To mitigate the bad odor of chicken dung in raisin broiler chicks, it is best to integrate the method of korean farming of swine. by putting mixed (saw dust, Sand, Top Soil and SALT under the poultry house and spray every 3 days of any water-based microorganism i.e.(Indigenus miroorgasm (IMO)from rice or Efffective microorganism (EM)to eliminate the bad odor. until the chicken mixed into the beddings being prepared.

In addition, in replacement of the biologics or vitamins being mixed into the water for the chicken. Based on our experienced the Fermented fruit juice (FFJ), Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ) and the Fish/Kuhol Amino Acid (FAA/KAA), Oriental herbal nutrient from assorted spices(OHN) are the best. You can feel the juiciness, tenderness and odorless meat of the chicken. after you eat the “grilled chicken, lechon manok” you will not necessarily wash your hands by using soap just a plain water.
